Highlights about living as an exchange student in Germany

All students coming for a semester or the academic year program are given a full weekend orientation upon arrival in Berlin or another big city in Germany, where you also meet other exchange students from around the world, who are also studying in Germany. Students are placed with carefully selected host families. Ayusa visits the family in their homes, interviews them and collects recommendations from colleagues or neighbors/friends. Students meet regularly with a local representative in order to ease adjustment to German culture and family life. Additional assistance/support is provided by the head office in Berlin.

Stories from former exchange students:

Manuel with host siblings
Manuel, 18 years old , from Italy

"I had wonderful moments with my host family. In October we saw part of the North of Germany like Hamburg, Lübeck, Wismar, Schwerin and Berlin.
Besides the vacations and excursions we did, I learned very very much, just as I had imagined. In summary, coming to Germany as an exchange student was the best experience I have had!"

Snow in Germany
Jidapa, 17 years old, from Thailand

"My highlight of the year is that I got to know so many people. I experienced a lot of kindness, love and hospitality everywhere I went. I experienced new traditions, festivals, and even a season that is so different compared to Thailand - winter. I was looking forward to Christmas for so long. I would say it's the most wonderful time of the year."
