Please describe your host family:
My host family was warm and welcoming at the beginning and has continued to be the same through out my stay in Germany.

Describe your school:
At first I really hated school in Germany, it was boring and completely different from what I was used to, back in America. Although I still have my days where I could think of a hundred better things to do than go to school. Now I have met so many incredible people there and I’ve really grown to like it.

Describe a typical day in your life as an exchange student:
School obviously takes up a large sum of my time in Germany. After school and on the weekends I find myself with friends and my host family.

What do you like best about being an exchange student?
Everything has truly been wonderful the new culture, the new habits, the new language. But frankly I can say the people I have met in Germany have really been a highlight for me.

Where there any challenges?
Absolutely, I have struggled a lot with homesickness. It´s not easy having problems going on back home and you being thousands of miles away and not being able to help.

Is there any advice you would give to future exchange students?
I would say get out of your comfort zone. Some of my greatest experiences here in Germany are things I would never have thought to do. You need to be able to put yourself out there and just hope for the best.

Why did you decide to become an exchange student in Germany?
The reason I chose Germany was because one of my best friends lived in Germany and her family offered to take me in for a year.
